I was injured on the job in 2021, I fell thru a ceiling and injured my back. HR told me to go thru workman’s comp. This turned out to be the worst decision I ever made. They tried to send me to a Dr . Whose office was in a strip mall and had a google rating of 1.5 with hundreds of bad reviews. I told them I wanted a different DR. And was told I have a one time option to change. They sent me to another who was awesome, and had a 5.0 with hundreds of rave reviews,he scheduled me for surgery and said I would be back to work in six to eight weeks ! Total time off would have been four months. Two days before surgery workman’s comp cancelled the surgery and wanted a second opinion, fast forward a year later I HAVE to have surgery from a Dr with a 2.5 a bad reviews, he refuses to do the same surgery and flat out tells me it won’t help my back pain. I am not allowed to change or anything. Was told to a year and a half to only sit and not do anything as I begged to go back to work. 24 hours of Pt later at a 10 lbs weight limit, I was released for work no restrictions. I do maintenance and it is physical work, I tell my work ( I loved my job, it was across the street from my house ) and they won’t give me my job back, the wrote a phony job description that states I need to be able to lift, carry, push , pull 100 lbs. then the Dr. Changed my return to work to 20 lbs limit. I have a lawyer but the laws favor the company. Now I’m out of work, 60 years old and can’t get a job with this restriction. The company voted me employee of the year in 2020, had a party and everything. They had hired a replacement for me at half the price and are keeping him. Never been out of work in my life, and now will probably end up losing everything. Lawyer said I might see a settlement in a year or so. My back is still hurting and I can’t even see a real doctor to get it fixed. Welcome to the greatest country on earth!!
