Asking here for a friend who doesn’t have reddit, I’m curious what this community thinks of this situation. Friend is part time at a company, only does events which he is asked about a couple weeks in advance. They are not assigned, he is asked if he is available, and then they confirm the event with the client and he is assigned to the event. A week ago he was asked to do an event, he said no for valid reasons. They asked him again and he said no. He recently had to go into the building and they were all in a panic badgering him to say yes because he was the only person available and they had already told the client they could do the event and it was in 3 days. He is now going to do the event and seemed really wearied about having to add it into his schedule now (he has two other jobs, that’s why he said no)
I think this is super unprofessional. This is only a part time job and it is contingent on personal availability, there is no set schedule. He said no twice and they still persisted and made it personal by displaying a big panic when he went into the building so that he would say yes. They also have had issues with paying him less than other new workers and not paying him on time.
