The corporation I've worked for for 12 years merited me 32 days of PTO per policy over years worked. New corporation buys us, says same pay, but only 24 days PTO. At my hourly rate that is a a couple thousand dollar loss. I am losing 25% of my PTO! If time is money, or money is time, I am being devalued one way or another. No pay increase to compensate.
It's all happened in the last 3 days. I am right to be really upset? How do I negotiate to keep my own job on the same terms? My initial meeting for the new 'offer' HR was all fluff and bullshit toeing the line. Haven't signed anything yet, but will have to in less than 2 weeks.
Everyone is getting PTO hours cut from old corp policy to match buyers corp policy. I am planning to speak more with current management and if necessary knock on the door of all current higher ups in protest and hoping they will push back.
I've worked there since the startup company, but I make way less than 3 figures. This is our 4th (ugh) merger and I've never lost pay or vacation ever before. They've always grandfathered 'legacy' employee PTO via addendums to employee handbooks.
Their speech said “we value you as a company because of the people who work here” yet we're all getting shorted.
I love the work I do. Don't mind working. Hate corporations.
