Corporate housing is just privately sponsored communism

I live in rural Wisconsin where, like almost everywhere else, we have an acute housing shortage. Our county government has been trying to address the issue but has received lots of pushback from the anti-government, pro-private industry crowd. Those same folks are applauding companies that have purchased housing units to attract and house employees. It’s wild that we are so (justifiably) reluctant to let the government run our lives, yet we’ll gladly allow private businesses to control our housing and be able to hold insane amounts of leverage over our livelihood. Is this not just communism (the thing nobody wants) with private control? Are people really that oblivious?
