I don’t know if this is the right group for this gripe but this is very frustrating …Anyone else heard of employers using a matrix tool to find buzz words in your cover letter from their position description to secure interviews? In the last couple of years I’ve heard I need to tailor my cover letter to make sure I use the right buzz words aka the words used in the position description. And then employers use a matrix tool to “choose” which candidates get an interview based on who used enough buzz words. I find this ridiculous because why do you want someone who cannot think, yet simply regurgitate? I’ve always thought using similar language is not meritorious, for its slightly plagiarism. Or is this actually what most employers want to see? (To me I would not work for this type of employer- for it very much seems they don’t actually use their brains therefore they don’t want employees that do.)
