Cover Letter/Securing Interviews

I don’t know if this is the right group for this gripe but this is very frustrating …Anyone else heard of employers using a matrix tool to find buzz words in your cover letter from their position description to secure interviews? In the last couple of years I’ve heard I need to tailor my cover letter to make sure I use the right buzz words aka the words used in the position description. And then employers use a matrix tool to “choose” which candidates get an interview based on who used enough buzz words. I find this ridiculous because why do you want someone who cannot think, yet simply regurgitate? I’ve always thought using similar language is not meritorious, for its slightly plagiarism. (To me I would not work for this type of employer- for it very much seems they don’t actually use their brains therefore they don’t want employees that do.)
