Coworkers who I don’t directly work with are asking my location and forcing a “playdate”

I work for a company that is in a different state from where I live. Majority employees work remotely all over the USA and only some are near headquarters. My direct team that I work with all live in other states, but I wouldn't mind if the company paid for a trip to meet all together. However, the company made group chats for each state, and put all the people working in the same state together to “chat and decide when and where to meet”. Um, excuse me? All the employees who live in my state, I've never even spoken to. And we all live in completely different cities and it'd be a long commute to meet complete strangers. And this isn't being paid for by the company either. Either way, I feel like we are children being forced to go on a playdate. I'm not sure what to do.…

However, the company made group chats for each state, and put all the people working in the same state together to “chat and decide when and where to meet”. Um, excuse me? Luckily, I live the farthest away from all of them, I ignored this group chat for a few days but was directly asked where I live. I vaguely answered only mentioning the general vicinity, and was immediately asked to provide further details. WTH?!

I know my direct managers and HR have my address of course, but I feel it's wrong to disclose my exact location to someone I've never met or spoken to/worked with closely.

I did not answer them, I just continued to ignore but I'm worried I get fired, I want to speak up for myself but don't know what to say.
