Boss requiring release to work.. didn't get hurt at work. Any advice?
Back story: last Thursday on pre approved time off I herniated a disc in my L4/L5, put me in the hospital, on muscle relaxers constantly, etc.
I've been in pain all week. I've made it very very known. I've sent emails to my team just asking for assistance with printers/folders/walking to another building with stairs. They've been fine with it. It's not inconvenient.
Sometimes I have to walk around because of the pain. I will do 3 laps around the cubicles while reading stuff for work or take a break and do a short walk. Again, everyone knows it's for my pain. HR is looped in and knows what's going on.
I went home today in TEARS a half hour early because of the combined pain and stress my boss put on me today. It was email after email of asking for confirmation of things and telling me to do things while I was shaking from pain and trying to do 1 task at a time.
The doctors wanted me to stay home for the week, I declined – I took 1 extra day off with a doctor's note and just tried to stay comfortable. Again, I was very transparent about this with texts.
My boss just texted me that I will need a release to work form, that I should return when I don't need to walk to the printer from pain, but that I can work on a project this weekend and they'll figure out how to pay me. Because she doesn't know how to do it.
Any advice? I love my job, love my coworkers, but I've been building a case against my boss already to go to HR and I just want to know if this is a slam dunk. She doesn't do work, she will email us in groups with other departments included making us look like idiots, won't call anyone but expects emails back within her time frame, had been assigned work by her supervisor but passes it to subordinates because she's is unable to do it, and is on Adderall and coke in a 0% tolerance workplace.
