I started working at a gas station almost 2 months ago. In this short period i have got to know some special kind of people that i have to work with and take orders from. One of these co workers is really aggressive and has worked at this station for 8 years. Last thursday me and this coworker got into a argument over a cardboard box, and because of this cardboard box he decided to grab me by my shirt and scream in my face, that i am not to disobey orders and should do everything he tells me to. I had no intent to fight over this, i just thought that it didnt make sense to focus on a cardboard box while we have a bunch of customers. i decided to push him away from me and the fight escalated a bit, and i left to grab the trash, when my boss arraived. the fight then started again when i entered the staff room, and he tried to grab me again WHILE my boss was standing beside me, i pushed him again, then my boss went between us and told us to calm down. He decieded to scream in my face that is should “hang, get hanged” my language isnt his mother tongue. after this i went home after my boss said its not my fault and he is “just this way” “his head goes black sometimes”. I have called my boss about what has happened and he says my coworkers has apoligies to Him, and it wont happen again, and that he wants to put this behind. I however am abit afraid that this can happen again, escpecially since he has grabbed me by my shirt before and screamed in my face, but not this agressive. Im afraid that next time he might have a knife in his hand while he “goes black” or just outright hit me. My boss also says that its a part of his culture to say death threats when he is angry and does that even to my boss. I for sure know that my boss wont get rid of him bec of his 8 year experiance, but he also wants to keep me bec i do half of the morning shifts this month and he cant replace me that quick.
My parents mostly wants me to quit, but idk. I have work here at home where i can earn 60% of what i earn at the gas station in a month, but the experience i get from working there i cant get at home. im about 60-40 if i should go to work at tuesday were i will meet this guy at the last hour of my shift, since we work alone right now. Your thoughts? i dont really need the money, its mostly going into investments for my future. i care aobut my cv and i dont like to be quitter, just after 2 months.
