My current hours target is set for 2500 hours worked in a year. We have 10 federal holidays, and have 2 weeks pto. For that time I am able to record 8 hours. That means i need to average 9.75 hours each and every work day. I was informed that lunch cannot be logged as non charge time. So my M-F (if im lucky and dont have to work on the weekends) consists of waking up at 6:30 am to get to the office by 8 am. Work until 6:30/7pm, then choose if i go to the gym or cook dinner because i cant do both. I'm depressed to the point I'm listening to 16 Tons everyday on my commute in and out of the office. I'm thankful to no longer be working in an iron foundry and in an office, but this is soul crushing. I'm told i need to post more on linkedin and sacrifice weekends to attend work related conferences. I was hired to be an auditor but am now pushed to be a sales rep and whore myself for my company.
This system is so fucked that somehow CEO to worker pay increased from 20:1 to 400:1. Somehow this is not the #1 topic in every political conversation. My friend is losing his job because his plant is closing. He was given 1 week of notice and got off a company wide call with the CEO saying the company is in great financial health and to be careful who you vote for. Seeing Tim Gurner who is worth 930 million talk about the need to pressure citizens to work harder and be more profitable by increasing unemployment. I hate it all. We live in a society more productive than its ever been, in a time where companies and ceo profits are at an all time high and somehow these greedy pigs drunk on their own vanity dont feel they have enough. Wages are not keeping up with inflation and workers are required to work longer hours yet still this is not enough.
I'm sick of seeing awful people succeed. Cut-throat, shameless, arrogant pricks keep rising to the top and making awful, callous decisions resulting in people suffering and having the audacity to think they disserve not only more money, but to have the general population thank them for the opportunity to lick their shoes.
I find it a pitty there is no hell for these fucking pigs to burn in.
