Did my employer illegally union bust?

Hello all, I work for a company centered in the Midwest, but we have employees all across the country, hybrid work model for most. Recently, more and more folks were talking about starting a union, so we’ve been in talks for the past month with our local chapter of our [redacted name] union and it turns out senior leadership within company had asked an employee (1099-contractor) to break up the union and talk to coworkers to change their minds on voting to authorize a union, subsequently effecting our (future) election. We believe she is reporting to them this info as well. This was admitted to a union member by the 1099 contractor. (They didn’t know they were part of our union). Recently, more and more folks were talking about starting a union, so we’ve been in talks for the past month with our local chapter of our [redacted name] union and it turns out senior leadership within company had asked an employee (1099-contractor) to break up the union and talk to coworkers to change their minds on voting to authorize a union, subsequently effecting our (future) election. Roughly 60% of folks are already on board to support, but we’re now concerned our vote is altered because of this colleague (who guided by senior leadership) is convincing folks not to vote to authorize, nor vote yes.

We’ve also witnessed emergency meetings in the past where senior leadership promises to up our PTO and sick leave after we’ve sent more staff emails asking for union solidarity.

Is this illegal?
