Didn’t get the full time job I was promised

So when I started my current job, (contract through an agency) they said it was a contract to hire position if I did well. They have extended my contract 3 times sense then. So I figured, okay they like me, I work hard, and I know all the information about the machines I work on. It's at the point where I get called when something is going wrong or someone can't figure something out. I have people in higher positions than me asking how things work and procedures we do. So the time comes when the job is posted, I get told by everyone, my coworkers, my manager, my HR rep that I am almost guaranteed the job. Mind you this isn't increasing my pay, just that I am full time and get benefits from the company. I interviewed and thought it went well! Then they tell me I didn't…

Then they tell me I didn't get it and I shouldn't be down, there is always next time.

Cut to last week, the person they did hire for the full time position starts. Nice guy, about my dad's age, so I was confused why they would hire him over me, as I previously said I have all the experience and knowledge of the job. Well as it turns out he was previously with the company. And they reached out to him about the job.

Now they are expecting me to train him. So I did just that, took a full day and trained him in everything, as fast as I could as I had other work to do. I don't think he grasped it, and honestly I couldn't care less. As I said, nice guy, I dont blame him for it at all. It just feels cruel to me that they want me to train the person who got the full time position.

Before you say, “just quit” I can't. I don't have any other income and I need to pay rent. I am looking for other jobs but as you all likely know the market is fucked.

So I'm grasping at straws here but if anyone is hiring a QA tester, IT Help Desk, or something similar for remote work. Hit me up!
