Hey all! I could use some help, specifically with wording. Long story short, a past job years ago let me to me developing arthritis in my hip. As such, it hurts to stand in one spot for longer than an hour, and I honestly start feeling it at the half hour mark. After losing my nice office job due to budget cuts I have to work at a very red department store in order to make ends meet until I land a better job (trust me, I'm looking). It's been a few months and, while I tried to truck through it, I just have to sit otherwise I'm limping home.
This place is more of convenient store size, so we have one HR Representative, a store manager, and some team leads. The first two are currently out on vacation, and my team leads are more than fine with me bringing a chair to checkout so I can sit between customers, which leads me to be able to actually do more and keep up that customer service facade longer. I know, however, that as soon as the two of them come back that the store manager will probably throw a fit with me sitting behind the counter, and while the HR guy likes me and my efficiency, we all know how corporations are.
I'm going to see my primary doctor in two weeks where I'll be getting a doctor's note to try and help, but I'm really worried they'll find a way to fire me or at least make it near impossible to even get a stool even though I do more now then a fair share of their employees. Does anyone have advice on how I could word my argument to convince them to just let me have a damn seat?
