Sometimes, it feels pointless to demand a livable wage and humane work environments as a disabled person. I cannot work a traditional 40 hour week, I have ongoing and time-consuming doctors appointments, and I often wonder if I “count” as a worker deserving of the kind of support antiwork fights for.
The overwhelming suggestion is to apply for disability benefits, but most people don’t realize it takes years and many people who clearly need it don’t qualify for it.
Anyone else? How are you dealing with your disabilities and your finances? What jobs have worked for you? What kind of workplace do you need?
