I often ser Americn trades people or oil workers or other blue collor workern brag about working 50 hours or more a week and refer to 40 hours as part time condescending. And I am always confused by this. In my country the working week is the same (37h) no matter if you are an trade person like an electrician or carpenter or you work in an office. Of course over time do exist but the only people I know to work consistently long hours are not blue collar but lawyer's. So do American tears people work longer hours than everyone else(and in that case why?) or is just hyperbole.
