My job is requiring us to take a paid mandatory EEO training on one of our RDOs. The problem is we're allowed to work 7 days a week, thus working our RDOs. The facility where the EEO training is done is about an hour drive away and tolls/gas is not reimbursed.
This is only a seasonal job and myself and many others are trying to work the 7 days a week to rake in as much OT pay as possible. Not to mention we're understaffed, (about 1/3rd as much staff as we should have) so if we take the day off to go and do this nonsensical training we're screwing each other over and even screwing over our higher ups.
Also it seems that we were intentionally understaffed for some sort of political game. This is a government job. It's nothing all that serious but we really should not be understaffed.
We were told the training was mandatory but we weren't informed of any repercussions if we were to not do the training. I dont understand how they could fire us if we're already understaffed and if they've scheduled us to work 7 days a week.
Oh and if I decide to take a day off I actually want to enjoy it and not go do this nonsense.
Make it make sense. This could all be done over zoom but because of bureacratic assholes it has to be done like this.
