I stated this new job. I thought was going to be super supportive and be a positive place to work ( I know, what you’re thinking and no sarcastic comments please)
But I’m thinking they think I’m desperate. I took the job without thinking about it, it’s full time, I told them that I had 3 years of experience in optical. So I would like to at least get a wage of $17 or $18 per hour. They refused and said I start at $15. Even though I would play receptionist, pre tester, eye sales associate, cleaner, etc. Even though with my experience I should of gotten more. I took the job anyways because I got anxious if I would find another job. Days later I found a job similar to that paid $22 or $23 an hour.
Then yesterday, I was told I need to pre test alone. Which I told them. I have no experience of pre testing. Which I said in the interview. I just was able to sell glasses, do measurements, transcribe the rx into lenses. It’s only been 6 days and they are annoyed I can’t pretest alone and when I do, and do it fast, they get mad when I’m slow and usually I’m only slow when it’s a child.
Do you think they are finding ways to take advantage of me because I don’t really speak up for myself?
