Do you go to work ill?

My coworker has been pretty ill the last week with some kind of upper respiratory infection. They had an extremely high fever that didn't break for 5 days and were going to go to the doctor but couldn't afford it because they missed several days of work. They are back now (still sick) because they can't afford to miss any more days. We don't have PTO or sick days at my job. I dont blame my coworker for coming in, but I know it's complicated because they could potentially get someone else sick who is immunocompromised or lives with people who are immunocompromised, or you know- people also just don't want to get sick and miss work too. How do you feel about people coming to work who are still potentially infectious? Is this something you do?
