Just out of curiosity. Worried I'm about to lose my job…
I work a travel job where I go all over the East Coast doing hardware installs for various chains. Last night my phone gave up the ghost. Literally just finally died. Stuck in a boot loop. I've tried everything to fix it and I can't get it working. I need it for GPS, to make calls, to check in and out of work, etc etc. Obviously the smartphone is an essential tool for navigating today's world, right?
Well, when I emailed my bosses about it they responded that I needed to be at work on time today. I NEEDED to be. I've never missed a day of work before and I've been employed here for over a year. They drafted up this insane plan for me to drive four hours in the middle of the night without GPS or the ability to call someone if I got into an accident or broke down, go to work this morning, and then leave the site at 10 AM to drop my phone off at the AT&T store… that is four hours away from my house. And the kicker? There are FIVE OTHER PEOPLE at that site today.
You guys feel like it's unreasonable for me to just… not do that? I'm gonna take it to my regular guy when his shop opens up in about an hour. And what are they gonna do about it? Call me and bitch me out? Good luck with that…
