Documents from former employer

A couple weeks ago I was laid off by my former company. When I was first hired, I was told that even though I was salary, I could still earn overtime. I think they are lying. I want to ask for the document of my original job offering and benefits so that I can confirm whether or not this is true. Are they legally obligated to provide me with this under the Freedom of Information Act or any other law?

If HR does not send me the job offering, I was going to contact the Department of Labor, since in that case they’re preventing me from even knowing whether wage theft is occurring or not.

I was going to eat the $500-$600 loss originally, but my boss lied to my face about writing me a letter of recommendation. So now I want what’s rightfully mine.
