Does anyone else feel like the gig economy apps (uber, lyft, doordash, etc.) are on the verge of collapse?

Both from a driver and a user standpoint these companies are fucking awful and just keep getting worse. All I ever see on the driver subreddits is complaints about how terrible pay is, and how it only keeps decreasing. From my own experience as a driver I know this to be true. On the user side everyones sick of crazy high fees and sick of feeling guilted into tipping huge amounts (because they know the drivers are being paid so little.) I've been on the rideshare subs for a little while now and I see constant tension between drivers and many of the people ordering food/riding, to the point that some people come there just to troll and belittle the job we're doing. And now I'm seeing articles about self-driving car services like Cruise that are going to do the same thing uber and lyft do but with AI. I…

I feel like the whole gig economy is going to collapse when this happens and all the current drivers will either be replaced or slowly starved out as pay is cut even further… Does anyone have a different or brighter view of the future to offer?
