Does anyone else feel like working is slavery?

I’m talking about when you’re being paid minimum wage. I feel like if i’m doing any sort of labor, especially really hard labor, I should be compensated a hell of a lot more. For example I was a courtesy clerk once at Fred Meyer (a Kroger store) and we were basically the slave of the store, and were paid minimum wage. I don’t know what’s worse, being an unpaid intern or working for minimum wage. At least unpaid internships are intended for you to gain experience, and you shouldn’t do any work for the company but they know they can get with it anyways. Working for poverty wages sucks especially if you have bills to pay and to be a slave just to barely make ends meet or not at all
