I work part-time at a hotel as the only employee, it is mostly unstaffed, in a remote area. I’m going to briefly summarise what makes me think my boss doesn’t like me, since there have been some weird instances:
I sometimes see my boss swing by in his car (it’s unmistakable) and it’s as if when he sees I’m there working (he doesn’t really keep track of my schedule) through the window, he just takes off. It happens at least once a week. He has also come in through the doors and when he sees me he seems agitated/passive aggressive exclaiming “Haha I didn’t know you were working today!”. Isn’t that odd?
I also suspects he “talks to me through my coworkers” (coworkers from the other hotels he owns, I sometimes fill in if someone is sick etc.). One time I had a text convo with a coworker who basically had to scold me, with his words. I’m not going to go into the details, but finally she had to write “I’m sorry, I’m just the messenger he is asking the questions”. The next day my boss confronted me as I stopped responding to my coworker… Why wouldn’t he just text/call me directly? It happened again yesterday with another coworker (she texted commands at me, “make this reservation in this name and give them this exact room”, when she wasn’t even working and I swear it was him telling her to).
Has anybody went through something similar? Do you think he has something against me or am I just overreacting?
