Don’t wanna come in sick to a kitchen job? We’ll go with someone else.

Mainly just a rant. But around 2 years ago I got what seemed to be a decent job at a pretty well known restaurant chain. They were even surprisingly accommodating with the fact I would start a bit later then originally agreed due to prior arrangements. Said arraignments involved traveling by plane, which you all know how that goes. I come back with a week before my starting day, and feel awful. It doesn't get much better and I end up messaging an apology saying I'd rather not risk it spreading around the kitchen and such. Then I was told that night I didn't need to come in at all since they'd be going with someone else. I know they can do that since I wasn't officially hired and probation periods and such, but it left such a sour taste in my mouth and left me without any work for…
