I have a close friend that Dashes as a side gig, dude was telling us how they hide tips from the drivers. Meaning if a delivery for a bunch of food like catering comes in, you’re taking a gamble on how much of a tip, if any, you’d be getting for such a huge order.
This is absolutely crappy on so many levels. The reason most drivers reject orders is because of no tip, so if the company wants to “combat” this by hiding tip amounts just shows how absolutely sleazy they are.
Like it’s simple, GIVE A HIGHER PAYOUT TO THE DRIVERS. Yes, let us tip, we’re going to tip regardless (unless someone is an asshole) but why won’t these predatory apps take a hint that they pay so low that these poor drivers have to solely rely on tips to determine making the delivery.
The fees on these apps have damn near tripled in recent times and according to (idk if we can mention other forums so I’ll censor) [are][slash]doordash, the drivers seen none of that going towards them.
I’m all for not supporting these sick apps, but it’s like a double edged sword, doing so might hurt a lot of gig workers using these apps to make money, so it’s like I’m torn in the middle here of whether to even continue using them or not.
