What the actual hell? I (32F) recently had a job interview and have received an email asking for my ID/proof of working rights in Aus, which is fine, I get that they have to check that – however, the next question/section stated if one or both of my parents on my birth certificate were born overseas (one was) they apparently need their ID details as well? Why? This feels like a huge invasion of privacy for no fucking reason.
Is there actually a reason why they need this information? I was born in Australia and have never left the country. Am I missing something? Why would they need proof that one of my parents is an Aus citizen, because I was born here and am by default an Aus citizen.
