Kind of a rant here, but I need to vent
I live in PA (20 minutes outside Philly), and our office is in New Jersey.
When I was hired, the position was fully remote (November 2020). One of the other employees was promoted to Director of Operations, and since then has had me come to the office 2 days a week.
I don't really mind this, as it is nice to get out of the house twice a week, but next week, our employee who goes to the office everyday (and lives 5 min away from the office) is on vacation. My DOP has told me I need to be at the office everyday next week in case we get deliveries to the office (IT Service provider).
I asked if I would be getting paid an extra something, seeing as I already have to fill up gas once a week as it is, and pay turnpike tolls both ways, as well as a bridge toll. He told me that “It's up to the president of the company” and probably has no intention of talking to him about it.
The kicker is, all other employees (including my DOP) live in New Jersey, but he can't go in in case there is an “impromptu necessary onsite” (Most of our clients are in PA, by the way lol)
I don't understand why management feels the need to force people into a fucking office, since there is really no need for my job, specifically.
Ok, end rant, thank you for letting me bitch lol
