Employer demanding notice period

I am still in my probationary period at a joke of a job with an arrogant prick of a boss. The position was misrepresented, but as I just needed a little bit of extra money, I accepted knowing it would just be a temporary stepping stone (the employer is also aware as we had discussed this at the beginning). It is now just over 2 months into the 3 months of the probationary period, and I’ve informed my employer that I will be leaving as I’ve accepted another job offer in my desired field. Per the contract, there is nothing about providing a notice period while you’re in probation – just that under a month of employment requires 2 weeks, and over a month is one month. I’ve pointed this out (but still offered a week notice period), but he is demanding I commit to the one month period that…

Is there anything i can do in this situation besides tell him to fuck off?

  • additionally, this job is in south east London. I’ve recently moved to Bedfordshire, and the commute/rail fees to pay ratio is absolute shite. Just another reason to quit!
