My employer is trying to get government contracts. They didn’t have one before but just created a new workplace policy handbook and told everyone they are going to do random 5 panel tests on 7 people every month starting in October. There are about 50-70 employees.
How should I handle this? They are saying that transparency is appreciated. They are also saying that if you have a medical marijuana card they can try to accommodate you but I think this would exclude me from working on any government contract they might get.
The HR admin ladies are big gossipers and I think if I did fail the test or admitted to smoking weed that this information could spread in the company. And there’s a stigma to smoking weed.
Should I tell the truth? Try to fake my way through the tests until I can get clean?
I didn’t agree to this at the time of employment but now they are asking everyone to sign that they agree to the new policy.
