I’m unsure if this is legal. Company laid off my department and a few others yesterday as they are struggling financially. Unexpected & it’s very sad, painful & all around sucks. We are mostly eligible for rehire, most left on good terms. Now they’re trying to get us to be independent contractors & either train other employees still there or just do the same work we were doing but as IC. Curious if this is legal, in California. Also if they could be turned in, where would that be to & could I do it anonymously? Would there be any benefit to me doing that?
