Employer threatens to cut my hours if I don’t do an unpaid 10h training course

So I work as a waiter for a big company in Ireland. They have about 10k employees and a few months ago their HR decided to launch a training course that covers literally all aspects of all departments of working in hospitality. Initially this was only for those who were interested which was fair. Then a few months ago they decided to make it mandatory for everyone. Some people complied but others including myself decided to just ignore them as the company wasn't paying us for this and we were not willing to spend our free time on something work related. The whole thing eventually was forgotten but HR came back this week demanding everyone finishes the course.
