So the company I work for partners with the national park service for seasonal work. Which means that the minimum wage for each job is different and government regulated under the service contract act (SCA).
In 2017 the company thought it would be a good idea to just stop updating these wages. Last year a totally complaint to the department of labor finally went through to rectify this and get retro pay.
Two things happened from this lol.
- We only got back payed to 2020 which whatever ill take it, But if you notice something report it right away. They basically got away with underpaying workers for three years cause we didnt learn in time.
- One of my coworkers now has to pay the state of texas 10K$ for his healthcare because the backpay put him over his subsidy limit. So he definitely lost.
Also to anyone on here that works for a company in a national park, make sure you are being paid a SCA wage. Were talking the difference between 12$ an hour and 30 here for some jobs.
