Exempt Employee with some first responder duties Wondering what laws might exist regarding exempt employees with first responder duties. The job is at a commercial airport where air rescue firefighting and emergency medical responder duties are required during air carrier operations. If those duties only exist for two hours out of a 10 hour day; can an employee be categorized as exempt. Furthermore, if overtime only occurs due to first responder obligations… would that complicate matters?
