Fainting twice isn’t a reason to leave work?

To be fair, it was more like “I was on the way to fainting, but lay down instead because it hurts less”… My supervisor seriously was upset with me tonight because I messaged & called to tell him “I've almost fainted twice and who else can cover?”. Thought I was trying to get out of the impending 10 hour shift. (No, I'm looking forward to the OT.) Instead, he got the on-call person to come in & put me on-call. Yeah, no. That phone is in the car & I'm in the ER now. I drive usually around 250 miles on a work night. Smearing the car across the freeway seems like a much worse option than having the assistant manager come in on a day off. (A suggestion which the supervisor vetoed.)
