You cannot win. No matter what they say, feedback is a one-way street.
It's an opportunity for superiors to tear down well-meaning and well-intentioned junior folks. Rarely have I ever found feedback to be helpful. Managers are quick to point to examples of past behavior, but rarely work with the employee to find a path forward. Providing “things to think about” is not sufficient.
When I give feedback to others, I have to watch my words because I'm junior and risk offending someone. But my feelings don't matter.
I really, really hate this aspect of corporate america.
