it's just about time for the promotion cycle again and I feel like I know I'm not going to get one. despite working my ass off the whole time, plus extra since I didn't get promoted last time around.
I hate that my manager is fake supporting me. when I asked her upfront about how I can make sure I am at LEAST considered for a promotion, she said she'll help me but that “promotions just don't happen that often here. people have tried for years and haven't been promoted.” so. yay.
I have no time to compile a whole resume, essentially, showing that I am capable and am ALREADY DOING the work of the next level. I know promotions aren't really companies taking a “risk” on you, but come on man y'all know I'm already doing this work. literally above and beyond beyond beyond. so why do I have to add hours of work to prove that I'm doing hours of work. oh and don't worry that's all overtime that won't get approved.
I need to be promoted to transfer jobs. without revealing too much, the level system here is such that internal transfers have level requirements. and my manager telling me that promotions are ” rare” really just sounds to me like they aren't promoting anyone because they know we will all transfer out. because they know we're being mistreated and taken advantage of.
