I had my first interview for an admin position at this company that is a sausage factory company and is in an industrial lot with lots of other company factories. I’ve worked in the admin department at a factory before. However, this was really weird. I got asked to come in for an interview the day after the phone screening. The company is located quite far away from me, in an area I’d never been to and takes me an hour to get there. The area is very depressing as well and run-down. When I get there, they make me wait for 15 minutes and give me an application form to fill out that I’ve already filled out prior. They obviously gave me this to have something to do whilst I waited because this form was specifically for before the interview and was clearly just printed out. It was so annoying. Asked me to fill in all previous work experience, why I want the role, the standard application questions and procedures.
Finally they invite me upstairs to a big room and the two interviewers are there. One of them is wearing a tracksuit, a ball cap and literally shades inside the whole time and I don’t mean on the top of his head. He looks like a rapper/gangster. I’m not even kidding and I’m not trying to be judgmental , but I was shocked. The woman was a Russian woman, very clearly had some plastic surgery, bleach blonde, well put-together. They do interview me like normal, the guy seemed focused on trying to find out exactly what area I’m from, then starts explaining how they started off as a family company and he hates “big businesses” and business procedures. Later that day, I get an offer. On Indeed, the job is advertised as £27-31k. But they offer me £26k which is literally below that the salary range. Is this major red flags or what? I’ve been searching for a job for MONTHS but I really am so unsure of this place.
