Fired for not making coffee at a credit union

This happened about 6 months ago and I now have another position but it still rocked me hard. I was working at a credit union on a 9 month contract, and they had decided at that time they were expanding their business to incorporate a coffee house element (I don’t get it either). They moved me over there to be trained to become a manager since I came in with kitchen experience (the place is pretty comparable to a Panera/SLB). I was in this position for about 3 months, this is after 6 months of high praise within other positions in the company. One day, I got a written warning for swearing in the kitchen, this coming after I had a terrible day where my then car broke down and stopped working. I had to take a day off work to get a new vehicle, first loan for a ride…

I had to take a day off work to get a new vehicle, first loan for a ride I’ve ever taken out. I come back for a while and do a good job at keeping my language in check.

One day, it’s extremely busy at work, and I end up staying 2 hours after my shift ended to cover until a new person got there. Before I left, I double checked with every manager on staff as well as the other shift workers in case anyone needed anything from me. They all said I was good.

I come back in the next Monday and I’m fired without any warning for not making cold brew coffee the day I stayed late. This was about 2 weeks before my contract was up. I left crying my eyes out, not allowed to grab my stuff as they would ship it to me later, and I nearly ended my life that day. I was so unceremoniously thrown out after being so close to being done.

I am luckily in a new position I enjoy very much, but my life hasn’t really recovered since then. Im barely making enough to cover expenses and am still very depressed, and I can’t really get a 2nd job because my current position requires me to travel a lot. I don’t have many friends as I don’t have time outside of work to make them, and the previous position I had and how that saga ended has made it clear that I should not make friends at work, as it’s only temporary. Not really sure why I’m still going other than for my girlfriend. Thanks for the time
