Fired for taking too long to answer calls after my dad died.

I was working as a receptionist at a very busy company, my father recently passed away from leukaemia, and I took some time off to grieve. Upon my return, I was called into a meeting with HR and told I was maintaining a higher than average time between calls and they believed I was avoiding calls. I said I wasn't, the extra time I was not on the line was to wipe my eyes and nose because I'd been crying between calls as my father was dying. They said they'd look into it. I also never signed the paperwork saying I wouldn't sue. I fully believe I will be able to get unemployment, but does anyone have any tips or tricks for me to make sure I do? Thanks!
