So as the title reads, I was fired from my job for trying to help an elderly lady navigate the company website. I went above and beyond and provided superior customer care as the company states that we are supposed to do. I wasn’t able to get any help from my leadership as they had no other answer other than “IDK there is nothing that shows us how to do that.” So I took it upon myself to find out how to do so and help navigate this customer and any customer that would’ve came after with the exact same issue. All I did was try to help this lady book a hotel room using her points and I got fired for that. So I don’t even know what superior customer service is supposed to be. I did everything within my power to help this lady and now im out of a job. Sometimes I wonder why am I such a caring and nice person when all it gets me is screwed over? Also if you would like to know what company I use to work for it is a Hotel Company, Best Western International. What really sucks is I worked so hard, exceeded metrics and performance goals to move higher up in the company and was even commended by management and then this happened. I really wish I could fight back against it or had the resources to do so(i have tried) but nothing I say or do will change the decision. I would just highly recommend not staying at any Best Western, not out of judgement for them firing me but because I worked at the corporate office and I know how they operate. I have dealt with many many complaints and the corporation does nothing to fix it. The company does not care about you,showing you hospitality or making sure you get what you pay for. They will screw you over any and every which way they can and say it is policy. Each hotel is individually owned and operated so ultimately corporate has no power or say over them in the end. Calling to complain to corporate does absolutely nothing but document your complaint in a system no one reviews or looks through. I would just highly recommend going to a better hotel chain, one that doesn’t let hotel owners berate or belittle their guest/customers and actually makes things right when you have an unpleasant stay. Anyways rant over.
