So I just got fired for requesting an extension on my return date until this following Monday.
My mom passed away last Monday evening at work, I went home Unpaid of course, and was given 3 bereavement leave days to travel all the way to Florida, bury my mom, and hurry back home, no time to rest, grieve anything.
Basically got on a flight Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning, funeral Friday, flight back yesterday.
I honestly haven’t even had time to grieve as it’s all been a blur. I emailed HR today and asked if I can please have the rest of this week to finish my moms estate and actually grieve her death. She said they’ve been gracious enough by offering me bereavement and basically fired me over email telling me they’ll mail my final check.
This is a company with a “ social media “ presence that presents itself as friendly etc
I’m currently living out my car and am devastated.
