I have 10 years of solid experience in managing Order To Cash (credit, collections, cash app, billing) in F500 environments; 3 jobs in that period, most recent got laid off on Wed before Turkey Day FML.

I want to finally transition out of accounts receivable and into general accounting. I took a hair cut on my salary the last job, so now that I'm unemployed earning zero, is the perfect time to find a general accountant role. CPA isn't an option… I need to put food on the table.

I'm not going to lie on my resume & find myself underqualified in a few days. I'm wondering how to apply to these roles when their HR or ATS to just spit my resume out. I'm thinking on the summary on top mention I'm shifting careers within Accounting. If it's a role that has the option for a cover letter, that would be easier as I could explain it in the cover letter.

Thoughts? If you're looking at resume and see something like this, what's the benefit in hiring me vs someone with 100% accountant experience? I'm just going to be looking for roles with under 5 years experience.
