First “real” job

So long story short My parents own a restaurant and I worked there since I was 14 until now (19). I decided I wanted to get another job on my own terms because I wanted to be more independent and not rely on my parents store for all my money. I decided I wanted to get another job on my own terms because I wanted to be more independent and not rely on my parents store for all my money. Plus I would still work at the restaurant but not as much as this job was full time. I did this for about a year and I was ranked the best worker by our tier system. It was a warehouse and all I had to do was pick orders which I had the highest numbers. I had a cousins graduation to go to so I decided to let them know I would like a day off for this. Also i asked a MONTH before the graduation for the day off and this was my first time ever asking for a day off. My boss tells me that it is a busy time of the year and since I am one of the best workers they have I have to be here. Then he goes on to say “I know this is your first real job but this but you aren’t the owners son here ”. Then I put in my two weeks, went to the graduation, and started back working more at my family’s restaurant. Overall way happier and it was their loss in the end.
