First write up at work!

Hi! I live in the U.S and this is my first time posting a story on this sub but I've been lurking for a while. All advice/comments/general stuff is appreciated in the comments as long as it's within guidelines so the mods don't close the comment section. Tldr will be at the bottom, and I'm on mobile so I apologize for the formatting. And I'm not certain my managers go on Reddit but it never hurts to be careful! On to the story! This happened a few days ago. I work for a relatively small restaurant chain in the U.S, only a couple locations and all in one state. I'm set to clock in when we open but I always clock in a few minutes early to count my register and make sure it's at the proper amount. This happened a few days ago. I work for a relatively small restaurant chain in the U.S, only a couple locations and all in one state. I'm set to clock in when we open but I always clock in a few minutes early to count my register and make sure it's at the proper amount. That day was the same way, clocked in about 5 minutes early, only that day we had a few catering orders due around when we open. Most we're being taken care of by our catering drivers and the Managers were handling the other. At our restaurant we have our paper lists of everything that goes with an order. When everything is accounted for, said item is crossed off. This way we're not asking the kitchen to make two (2) of something or looking for something already taken, and to show that the items have been moved out of the window between the kitchen and the servers. I begin helping the Managers and looking at the list and see 3 items already crossed off, those items included an optional protein which was also crossed off. So I move onto other items and begin bagging the food since the costumer is here and ready to pick up the order. All goes smoothly until I notice that the protein did not leave with the other items. It turns out that even though the items were crossed off they were still in the window and away from the other items and were left behind. A manager delivers the items and the rest of my shift goes pretty smoothly with me handling big orders without any error, as is normal. Before I leave, but while still on the clock, the GM pulls be aside and says that I'm getting written up for this error and that I “need to do better”. In the write up it notes “BurnerUnit is being written up for forgetting the protein that went with an order”. I read over the document and signed, but in the heat of the moment forgot to ask for a emailed copy of the write up, which I will be doing on my next shift. As a result of this I've lost good will I had for the company and will no longer be clocking in early. If there's an update to this sorry it won't be for a few days, and if I get in trouble for writing this, I'll let you know!

TLDR: I was written up for forgetting proteins with a meal within my first few minutes of clocking in and having no idea we had catering orders.

Edit: Spelling and phrasing. (We're still doing phrasing, right guys? Guys?)
