Finally received my pay raise from work after 1.5 years working there. A staggering 78 cents!!!
For background info, I’m a defense engineer holding a clearance in a VHCOL. This is my 2nd job out of college since graduating in May 2022 with a BS in ME….
I took the job offer of $64,480 since this was a fixed salary (contractor for gov’t) with the assumption that this was going to pay off in the long run with a salary increase to match both inflation and the high cost of living in San Diego. I recently had a performance evaluation about a month ago and overall had exceptional performance results. Considering I am going back to school for my masters I wanted to assure my finances were in order prior to starting classes. I was under the impression that I would at least get within a 10k raise, but Wow was I far off…. I got a 2.5% salary increase from 64,480 to 66,102. This absolutely killed me finding this out today that I decided to head home early from work today. Just flat out disrespected knowing that new grads are making far more than I am with 2 YOE under my belt. I’ve been working on applying to new jobs as soon as I got home. Just wanted to vent/rant at how ridiculous and money hungry and greedy some corporate “small business owners” CEOs are. Utterly insane
