With all these terrible managers and companies I thought I would share my experience with a great company.
Recently I was hospitalized for 2 weeks and was put on short term disability. I found out later if my wife didn't take me to the hospital I would have entered a coma or worse. During my hospital stay my direct supervisor would call my wife to see how we were doing (often resulting in her crying to him for a LONG time), bringing her food, offering to take our kids for the day anything she needed. Prior to this he had not even met my wife. The CEO in trying to figure out short term disability for me just decided to pay me 8hr days every day I was in the hospital so I didn't have to worry about anything. They were and have been great through all this and did most of the paperwork for me. All this and I have not even been at the company a year yet.
With all the shitty employers I think it's good to remember there are good ones out there.
