Forced to quit but stupidly handed my notice in, can I do anything

Hi, I’m a student who works part time and have a temporary job over summer which I made my employer aware of in my interview and 2 months ago when he asked everyone’s summer availability. I told him I would need a certain amount of time off, and reminded him of it a couple of days ago when he scheduled me during that time. He has then turned around and said the company need advance notice for that much time off, and effectively if I do this I need to resign which I stupidly did. I’ve read my contract and there is nothing that says anything about advance notice. I feel like I was a complete idiot and should have waited and contacted a union before I handed my notice in, but I’m also not even sure if I’m even in the right here lol.
