Found a hidden camera/microphone in office

Hey all so this is bothering me and I haven't been able to let it go so thought I might get some feedback. I've been with this small business for 2.5 years and believe to be a valued employee. Kicking goals and overall enjoy the position. The other day though we had a visitor hanging out in this room right next to my office, the room is basically a dumping ground for stuff, occasional meeting, etc, but definitely not a room that needs video or audio surveillance. Anyway they ask if I can plug their phone charger in and in me rummaging around behind a desk I find a camera and mic pointing basically up hard against the wall to my office. So not capturing any video but definitely able to catch audio. It was the only spare PowerPoint so I unplugged it and plugged the phone charger in. Anyway…

Anyway I purposely forgot to plug it back in after they left, I suppose as I was feeling dirty but this and kind of testing the theory if this thing even monitored.

But then the next day I get a call from the boss who happens to drop a comment about how well the warehouse team is operating as he's been checking in with the cameras in the warehouse. (We all know about these cameras as they are on display).

I don't think that was coincidence and more a subtle way of pointing out he knew the device was unplugged.

It's a real shame I can't get this out of my head as I like the job, teams pretty good, it's a small business which has its challenges and pay is average. But the work life balance is good.

I'm tempted to bring it up and ask why, but just don't know if the answer is going to elevate the issue? He obviously wants to listen in to my conversations and that's the crux of the issue for me.

Any advice?
