Found out how much my boss charges for the work I do & feel angry and deflated

Just a quick rant I guess. I work part time doing social media posts for small businesses. I do it for a franchise owner of a small business – it’s all assistant stuff, I have a couple of colleagues who do admin, bookkeeping, etc. but I’m the social media one. I don’t tend to manage the accounts, just write content and go kind of thing. From what I know, my boss finds the clients, they negotiate, and then she assigns one of us the job. E.G., SME asks for diary management, colleague 1 deals with it. SME asks for an infographic to go in their email newsletter, I do it, etc. I get paid £10 an hour, going up to £11 an hour in a few weeks. I get just under £500 a month. It’s not set hours, as long as I get it done before the deadline it doesn’t…

It’s not set hours, as long as I get it done before the deadline it doesn’t matter when I write.

On top of my other roles, I write 1 blog a month for a client. I’ve been doing it since April 2022 approx. It takes me around 3 hours give or take, meaning I get paid £30 for this blog, essentially.

I email the blog to my boss, who normally emails the client separately about it. Today, she accidentally forwarded the email I emailed her, rather than make a brand new one, and attached the invoice. She is charging this client £245.

I was so shocked. £215 profit and for what? I write the content. I format it into the website. I do the SEO. And I get paid… what, 10-15% of the final bill??

It’s a good job and I’m lucky to have it, given the flexibility. But still, sucks man.
