Found work! But everywhere I go is a skeleton crew?

I posted on this sub about a month ago saying I had left my job due to being harassed and other toxic work conditions. It was a skeleton crew there, and still is from what I’ve heard from people who still work there. Thank you to everyone who supported me on that post. You all are awesome, and completely helped me shift my perspective. I found a new job! (Yay!) I found a new job! (Yay!) I’m working on a field that I’m very passionate about and I’d love to work here as long as I can, but why is everywhere I go so completely under staffed? Management keeps admitting patients, and not hiring on new people. Last night we got 4 patients when I was one of only 3 working. One doing intakes, the other med evals, and me supervising the rest of the floor. I know everyone has been here before. How do you get past it? I had seriously the hardest night of work I’ve ever had last night and feel so unsupported.

Since drafting this, I have spoken to my boss and set boundaries where they need to be set for myself. That said, that won’t help our situation on having too many patients and not enough staff.
