My friend quit her job with 3hrs notice last week. She worked in a medical call center and her company has been through multiple managers in the past couple months. Every manager has sucked, but the last one was just ridiculous.
The call techs eat from a script and are graded on calls. They get docked for saying things like “okay cool”, or “sweet”. Her coworkers were sent to work from home due to COVID, but she was not allowed to bc her grade was too low and she “didn't earn that privilege.” She also made less than those hired after her with less experience.
The last manager gave her a hard time for bleeding through her pants. She needed to go home (10 min away) and get a change of clothes. They made her sit in her own blood for over an hour before allowing her to go home. When she got back the boss texted saying “you were gone 22 minutes. How do you plan to makeup that time?” She was hourly so this wasn't necessary.
A week later the manager did it to another employee she decided to quit. She sent a vague email saying “I am no longer able to work here due to personal reasons. This resignation is effective at the end of my shift today.”
The boss sent this:
“I'm sorry to hear that and even more disappointed that you are not providing the common, professional courtesy of 2 weeks notice, and are instead informing me no more than 3 hours before your shift ends. I will inform [big boss].”
My friend replied:
“I do not feel comfortable with working under this establishment any longer due to the unprofessionalism. I felt very diminished and degrated when the recent incident occurred that I had to sit in my own blood for a long period of time after you gave me a hard time to go get a change of clothes. And then had me take time out of my lunch the following day. All these events and my feelings led to my personal decision today. If tracy has any questions about my decision have her reach out to me.”
She CC'd the ceo of the company.
